The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) is amending the following Kansas Medicaid 1915(c) Waiver: Brain Injury (BI).
The proposed amendment covers the following:
- Waiver Administration:
- The state has separated the ADRC and the Assessing Entity into two separate contracts to mitigate conflict of interest.
- The state is no longer contracting with local non-state entities.
- Reserve Capacity:
- The state has adjusted the reserve capacity for two purposes, and added a third purpose:
- Reduced Temporary Institutional Stay
- Increased Institutional Transitions
- Added DCF Custody
- The state has adjusted the reserve capacity for two purposes, and added a third purpose:
- Rates:
- The state has increased rates approved by the legislature.
The proposed effective date for the Brain Injury waiver amendment is May 1, 2026.
KDADS is seeking public comments from January 15, 2026 through February 14, 2026 on the proposed amendment.
