Notice of Requested Architectural Services

Notice is hereby given of the commencement of the selection process for architectural services for the Wildcat OneStop renovation and additions to Kedzie Hall located at Kansas State University. Kedzie Hall will provide a centralized location for the Wildcat Onestop, the Cashiers Office, the Student Financial Aid Office, the Registrar’s Office, and will consolidate service points in order to simplify the student experience. Co-locating the Powercat Financial student financial management resource center into this building will provide clarity for students and convenient access to financial resources. An additional program that will benefit from easy access to the OneStop is the Military and Veterans Resource Center. This project proposes to combine the portion of student financial aid services that directly serves military and veteran students with the MARC to centralize services to military and veteran affiliated students into one suite. The project also provides space for the Enrollment Management leadership and administrative offices which oversee the Wildcat Onestop.

The existing south addition to Kedzie Hall will be renovated and expanded to create a new Student Service Center (the Wildcat Onestop Project). This renovation will transform the existing building, improve its exterior presence on campus, and redefine the student experience. The interior renovation will provide spaces for students to easily access information and services, in addition to creating new modern work areas for staff. The renovation includes reconfiguring the majority of the three levels of the building with updated finishes, lighting, ceilings, a new elevator, an open and visible west to east entrance lobby and stair, new restrooms, and building support spaces. These improvements will address over $2M in deferred maintenance as well as create a more energy efficient building, and a clear investment in K-State students.

The existing building is approximately 29,561 gsf on three levels. Currently each level of the building is connected via a corridor to the historic north Kedzie building. There are no plans to renovate or affect the north Kedzie building or its access to the existing elevator and northwest stair tower which should remain for exiting and ADA access. An addition to the existing building is planned of approximately 7,200 gsf to accommodate the new entrances and program areas needed. Funds are currently available for design phase only. The project construction budget is $14,130,000.

An architectural/engineering program is available at http://admin.ks.gov/offices/ofpm/dcc/arch-eng-programs. For more information contact Michael Carson at mpcarson@ksu.edu.
