Voter Registration Period Closes Today

Tuesday, July 14, 2026

TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab reminds Kansans that the deadline to register to vote for the August 4 primary election is today, July 14. All qualified Kansans who are not registered but wish to vote in the primary must complete a voter registration application by this deadline.

Kansans who have recently moved or changed their name will also need to update their voter information and can do so by visiting votekansas.gov or by contacting their county election office. This is critical because a change of address may affect your polling location.

"We have a record number of primary races," Schwab said, "and registering to vote is the first step for voters to make their voices heard this election cycle. If you're not yet 18 years old but will be by August 4, please go ahead and register to vote."

If you register by paper form, it is due by the close of business at the county election office. If filing online, registration is due by midnight.

Unaffiliated voters may affiliate at any time through the close of polls on Election Day and vote a party ballot. Unaffiliated voters are eligible to vote on the constitutional amendment and any other non-partisan questions or races. A voter may not change party affiliation until September 1s.
