June 1 Marks the Deadline to Change Party Affiliation

Thursday, May 28, 2026

TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab reminds Kansans wishing to change their political party affiliation to do so by June 1. Voters can change their affiliation by visiting votekansas.gov and updating their voter information by completing a new voter registration application. Voters may also submit a paper application to their local county election office.

"As a reminder, unaffiliated voters can affiliate with a party at the polls," Schwab said. "But if you are already affiliated with a party and want to make a change before the primary, be sure to do so before the close of business on June 1."

The primary election will be held on August 4. Regardless of party affiliation, all eligible voters may vote on the constitutional amendment appearing on the August ballot.
