SCHWAB ISSUES FILING DEADLINE REMINDER

Thursday, May 26, 2022

TOPEKA – Today, Secretary of State Scott Schwab reminded statewide candidates running for elected office to file by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Due to redistricting, districts with map changes will have a filing deadline of 12:00 p.m. on June 10, 2022. As a reminder, candidates with the June 10 deadline are those running for the United States House of Representatives, Kansas House of Representatives, and State Board of Education.

“With redistricting, this year’s filing deadlines have shifted for some offices. I appreciate those who have looked to my office or their county clerk for assistance and have been able to adjust and adapt,” said Secretary Schwab. “For those who have yet to file, my office looks forward to serving you in the days to come.”

Pursuant to state law, statewide candidates must submit their candidate filing documents and requisite fees no later than 12:00 p.m. on June 1, 2022, prior to the primary election. Mailed filings must be received in the Secretary of State’s office by 12:00 p.m. on June 1, 2022. Individuals may pay filing fees by check, credit card, debit card, money order or cash. The deadline for a statewide candidate to withdraw as a candidate for the primary election is also 12:00 p.m. on June 1, 2022. A candidate may withdraw by submitting a signed and notarized written request prior to the filing deadline.
