Certificates or Letters of Good Standing

To obtain a Certificate of Good Standing (CGS) or Letter of Good Standing (LGS), first perform a business entity search on the company for which you need these documents. When you view the search results you will see buttons to order a CGS or LGS. The CGS or LGS can be paid for at the time of order, and then printed on your computer.

A CGS or LGS is available for order only if the company is in Active and Good Standing status. If you have questions about your company’s filing status, please contact our office at 785-296-4564.

Fees
Certificate of Good Standing is $12.50.
Letter of Good Standing is $8.50.

Payment is accepted by a Kansas.gov subscriber account, major credit card or checking account

To verify the validity of a CGS:
If you have a CGS that you need to verify, click here. You will be asked to provide the verification code at the bottom of the certificate. Letters of good standing do not have this code or a means of electronic verification.

What is a CGS?
A Certificate of Good Standing is a certificate issued by the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office certifying that a business has complied with the applicable provisions of the laws of the state of Kansas, is in good standing, and authorized to transact business or to conduct affairs within this state.

What is a LGS?
A Letter of Good Standing is an uncertified statement issued by the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office stating that a business entity is at this time qualified and in good standing, having met all the requirements governing this type of business in the state of Kansas.
