STATE CORRECTS HAVA REPORTS

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

TOPEKA – The Office of Secretary of State today announced the correction of Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Federal Financial Reports.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency in our office, we felt it was imperative to disclose this information to the public,” said Secretary of State Scott Schwab. “Our office has worked closely with the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to ensure Kansas remains in good standing and we are grateful for their guidance in remedying this issue.”

Each year, states must file Federal Financial Reports with the EAC disclosing HAVA funding expenditures. Last month, Kansas was notified by the EAC that reports were past due. In response, staff in the Office of Secretary of State identified and corrected errors in past reports and resubmitted them. In addition, reports for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 federal fiscal years were filed and are currently under EAC review.
