Secretary Thornburgh is currently in his fourth term as Kansas Secretary of State. First elected in 1994 at age 29, Ron has been re-elected three times and received the highest vote total of any statewide elected official in both the 2002 and 2006 elections.

During his time as Secretary, Ron has served as the president of the National Association of Secretaries of State, and was instrumental in the drafting of the Help America Vote Act. In 2006, he received the Mike Harder Public Administrator of the Year Award from the American Society of Public Administration and has pledged to make his office "the least complicated, most accessible agency in state government."

A native of Burlingame, Ron graduated from Washburn University in 1985, where he played basketball. Ron, his wife Annette, and sons Grey and Tanner live in Topeka.
