The Kansas Secretary of State’s office is assisting the Kansas Press Association with the recruitment and selection of this position.  The successful applicant will be an employee of the Kansas Press Association. 


Work Examples

The duties of the KPA Education Director / KVK Executive Director include:

Ø      KPA Education Director – Establish an annual calendar of training events; coordinate dates, speaking fees, and training topics; develop new training ideas and programs; handle facility, audio-visual and refreshment needs; market training sessions; prepare handouts, evaluations, name tags, and other materials for sessions; and complete other duties as necessary in conjunction with training seminars.

Ø      KVK Executive Director – Serve as executive director for the organization; communicate with the board and participating schools; promote the program and recruit new schools; assist with fundraising efforts; provide materials and information to county coordinators; arrange curriculum training for participating teachers; and complete other duties necessary to fulfill KPA’s management agreement with Kids Voting Kansas.


Job Requirements

·        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university (equivalent experience and/or certificates may be substituted for educational requirement)

·        Leadership skills

·        Organizational skills

·        Exceptional oral and written communication skills

·        Exceptional interpersonal skills

·        Willingness to travel

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $26,000 - $28,000 per year.

A starting salary within this range will be commensurate with education and experience.

The Secretary of State’s office will select an interview group from the applications received, and conduct first round interviews.  Finalists will be selected and asked to meet with the KPA Director and/or Board for final selection.
