SECRETARY OF STATE CHRIS BIGGS TO SWEAR-IN BRIAN NEWBY AS JOHNSON COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER
TOPEKA, KS – Secretary of State Chris Biggs will swear-in Johnson County Election Commissioner Brian Newby to a third term at 9:00am, on Wednesday, September 8th at the Office of the Johnson County Elections Commission located at 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe, Kansas.
“As Johnson County Election Commissioner, Brian Newby has earned wide recognition for his professional, non-partisan, and effective public leadership. He has earned the public trust and I am confident he will continue to make Johnson County voters proud as Election Commissioner,” said Kansas Secretary of State Chris Biggs
During his tenure Newby has earned recognition for innovative uses of online technology designed to increase the accessibility and transparency of the Johnson County Election Commission.
“It’s rewarding to be part of the election office because Johnson County voters are among the most engaged citizens in the country. I’m grateful to Secretary Biggs for the opportunity to continue to serve them,” said Brian Newby, Johnson County Election Commissioner.
Newby was first appointed by Secretary Thornburgh on January 11, 2005 to fill an unexpired position upon the retirement of Connie Schmidt. He was appointed to a full term in 2006. He will serve a four-year term.
