SEC. BIGGS REMINDS KANSANS THAT FRIDAY IS LAST DAY TO REQUEST ADVANCE BALLOT
TOPEKA, KS – Secretary of State Chris Biggs reminds Kansans that Friday, July 30th is the last day to request an advance ballot for the August 3rd primary election.
“I want to encourage Kansans who think they might not make it to the polls next Tuesday to request an advance ballot,” Sec. Biggs said.
Kansans may contact their county election office to request an application for an advance ballot or download an application online www.voteks.org. All ballots must be received in the county election office by the close of polls on Tuesday, August 3rd.
Alternatively, Kansans may also cast an advance ballot in person at their local county election office. The deadline to cast an advance ballot in person is noon on Monday, August 2nd.
As of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28th, 72,469 advance ballots had been mailed, 36,721 advance ballots had been returned, and 7,327 individuals had cast an advance vote in person. In the 2008 primary, 75,384 Kansans cast advance ballots, up from 51,683 in the 2006 primary.
“We’re seeing an increasing trend in advance voting,” said Sec. Biggs. “People lead very busy lives, and advance voting allows individuals to cast their vote when they want and where they want.”
