THORNBURGH RE-APPOINTS MERRIMAN
TO U.S. ELECTION ASSISTANCE COMMISSION
TOPEKA, KS – Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh recently re-appointed Saline County Clerk Don Merriman to the Standards Board of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC).
Board members serve one year terms, with no limit. Merriman was first appointed to the board in 2004.
The EAC Standards Board was created in 2004 as a result of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). The board is made up of two representatives from each state and provides state-level feedback on the implementation and maintenance of the laws.
