TOPEKA, KS- Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh will recognize three 2007 NASS Medallion award winners at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. The ceremony will take place at the Secretary of State’s office.

Thornburgh will recognize:

-John Bartolac, Director of the Johnson County Department of Records and Tax Administration, for his leadership as chairman of the Kansas Electronic Recording Commission;

-Michael Byington, for his work on Secretary Thornburgh’s Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Advisory Council and Accessibility Subcommittee; and

-Kathy Peckman, Miami County Clerk, for her work on both county and state elections management.

NASS Medallion awards are given to honor outstanding efforts to promote or advance elections, civics education, or other Secretary of State functions.
