THORNBURGH PARTICIPATES IN “MAKING VOTING WORK”
NEW YORK CITY , NY- Yesterday, Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh joined 24 fellow election leaders from across the nation in a working session aimed at stimulating a national dialogue regarding election administration.
Thornburgh and others will gather March 4-6, 2007, to share knowledge and insight into elections administration and oversight geared towards finalizing the focus of an upcoming nationwide election initiative.
Sponsored by the Pew Charitable Trust, the “Making Voting Work” initiative will strive to make the national elections system as accurate and accessible as possible. The Institute will partner with electionline.org for the initiative, to be unveiled in the coming months.
As the former president of the National Association of Secretaries of State, Thornburgh was instrumental in the passage of the 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA), and has more than 20 years of election administration experience.
