TOPEKA, KS- Earlier this month, Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh was named the “Public Administrator of the Year” by the Kansas chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
“PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR” AWARD
"Secretary Thornburgh represents one among the best that Kansas can offer in public service, a vibrant and consummate citizen, and a promising bridge between the old and the young, and between today and the future," said Dr. Kalu Kalu, ASPA President.
Thornburgh received the award at the ASPA annual meeting, held on May 3, 2006 at Washburn University.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award. For more than two decades, I have worked hard to do what is right for the citizens of Kansas and I look forward to continuing this work in the future,” said Thornburgh.
The Mike Harder Public Administrator of the Year Award is given annually by the Kansas chapter of the ASPA to honor an outstanding public servant within the state. Past recipients include Washburn University President Dr. Jerry Farley and Steven J. Davies, then Secretary of the Kansas Department of Corrections.
