THORNBURGH SWEARS-IN ENSLEY AS SHAWNEE
COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER

TOPEKA, KS- Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh today appointed Elizabeth Ensley to a fifth term as the Shawnee County election commissioner. The ceremony took place at the Secretary of State’s office. Ensley will serve a four-year term in office.

“Elizabeth is incredibly knowledgeable in the election process and is well-respected among members of the community. During this time, when our election system is undergoing a number of changes brought about by the Help America Vote Act, I have confidence in her ability to administer fair and accurate elections in Shawnee County,” said Secretary Thornburgh.

Ensley was first appointed by then Secretary of State Bill Graves on January 13, 1992 to fill an unexpired term. Since then, she has been re-appointed three times. Her last appointment was by Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh in 2002 to serve a four-year term.
