THORNBURGH TO HOLD
NEWS CONFERENCE
Topeka, KS – Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh will hold a news conference at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2004, in the Secretary of State’s office, Memorial Hall, second floor.
Secretary Thornburgh will kick off the Vote! Kansas program for the 2004 general election. This voter education program is part of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and will educate voters on the changes in the election process and encourage Kansans to participate in the November 2, 2004, general election. Voter education is a requirement of HAVA and is outlined in Kansas’ state plan for implementing the requirements of the Act. The state plan was developed by the Secretary of State and members of the Kansas Election Reform Advisory Council.
Several members of the Kansas Election Reform Advisory Council will be present at the news conference.
