THORNBURGH ANNOUNCES SEARCH COMMITTEE MEMBERS
FOR SEDGWICK COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER POSITION
Topeka, Kansas Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh today announced
the search committee members for the Sedgwick county election commissioner position.
Thornburgh has appointed a five member search committee to handle the application
and interview process. The committee members are as follows: Nancy Bryant, chief
of staff to the secretary of state; Brad Bryant, deputy assistant secretary
of state for the Division of Elections and Legislative Matters; Tom Winters,
Sedgwick county commissioner; Andrew Bias, president/CEO of Mennonite Housing;
and John Rolfe, president/CEO of the Greater Wichita Convention and Visitors
Bureau. The committee will complete the interview process and make a recommendation
of three candidates to the secretary of state.
It is important to have a combination of community leaders, election
administrators, and professionals involved in the selection process, stated
Thornburgh. I anticipate having the position filled by early November.
This will allow the new person time to adjust and gear up for the November 2004
presidential election.
Persons interested in applying for the position should contact Mike Brassel
with the Secretary of States office at (785) 291-3603 or visit the Website
at www.kssos.org. Applications are due by
Tuesday, September 16.
