THORNBURGH REAPPOINTS RAHIJA
TO WYANDOTTE COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION POST
Kansas City, KS - Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh today appointed Patricia
Rahija to a third term as Wyandotte County election commissioner. The swearing-in
ceremony took place at the Wyandotte County election office at 9400 State Avenue.
Rahija will serve a four-year term in office.
Patricia Rahija was first appointed by Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh
on August 14, 1995 and reappointed on July 1, 1999.
"Commissioner Rahija is well respected in the community for her leadership
in the election process," stated Thornburgh. "At a time when our country's
election process is being redesigned to comply with the requirements of the
federal Help America Vote Act, we need Patricia's experience and administrative
abilities to see that Wyandotte County and Kansas get through the next few years
of change."
"Her work ethic and knowledge of the election process has proven to be
very beneficial. Commissioner Rahija has demonstrated herself as a public servant
who represents the finest of community leaders."
