THORNBURGH TO SWITCH PLACES WITH
WASHBURN UNIVERSITY STUDENT

Topeka, KS - Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh will attend class at Washburn University in place of junior Lindsey Hamblet, as a part of the "Big Switch." Each year the Washburn Student Alumni Association Board sponsors the "Big Switch," a program that enables students to connect with prominent alumni in the community.

Hamblet was one of 139 students who competed for the chance to meet Secretary Thornburgh by placing bets on how many blue and white M&Ms were in a pitcher. Hamblet, a resident of Plainville, Kansas, will shadow Secretary Thornburgh during the morning at various meetings. Secretary Thornburgh will then attend one of Hamblet's leadership classes during the afternoon.

"I am glad to be able to stay in touch with Washburn through various activities," said Thornburgh. "The Big Switch is a fun way to interact with students and help them network with alumni. This is also an opportunity for students to experience different professions."
