THORNBURGH ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NEW
SECRETARY OF STATE WEB SITE
Topeka, KS Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh announced today the launch
of a new web site with improved search capabilities and a new look depicting
Kansas landscapes. Customers can access the new site
at www.kssos.org.
Although the duties of the Secretary of States office are many
and diverse, we work hard to provide great customer service to all of our customers,
Thornburgh said. A journalist once described our office as the least
complicated, most accessible agency in state government.' That quote is our
daily mission.
Emerging technology gives us new tools to provide better customer service
that is simple and immediately accessible, Thornburgh said. We are
excited to be active participants in the electronic government and business
world, and we invite you to join us by transacting your government business
in our new Web site.
The new site was created to assist both every day users and those not familiar
with the site or the functions of the agency. A Quicklinks box on the home page
provides users with a list of common functions that they may access in order
to go directly to the information they need. If users prefer, the left hand
navigation allows them to go through the site quickly and efficiently or to
take time and get to know us. On each page a search box is available that will
search and return results in three ways. It returns a list of forms, related
site content, and related information from a database of agency responsibilities.
In addition to improved search capabilities, the Web site offers a friendly
place to do business. Each page will highlight depictions of rich Kansas landscapes.
The improved search capabilities and re-design are a foundation for future endeavors
to serve customers on the Internet.
