Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh Leads the Way to the
Tiniest Babies March of Dimes WalkAmerica
TOPEKA, KANSAS, JANUARY 14, 2002 – The March of Dimes Topeka Division is pleased
to announce that Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh will serve as chair for the WalkAmerica in
2002. Ron is active in the community and will bring solid community volunteer leadership
experience to the WalkAmerica Committee.
WalkAmerica will take place on April 26, 2002 at Gage Park. By taking part in the walk that
saves babies, the more than 600 walkers who participate are truly heroes for the tiniest babies!
“When you participate in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, you really are a hero for the tiniest
babies,” said Mr. Thornburgh. “That’s because you are helping to save babies born prematurely
who must fight just to survive. By walking, you could make the difference for them because
you are supporting lifesaving research and innovative programs to find ways to prevent
prematurity and help these babies win their fight.”
“We are honored to have Ron Thornburgh as the WalkAmerica 2002 chair,” said Linda Fricke,
March of Dimes Board Chair. “With his leadership and guidance, along with the community’s
support, we are going to make the Topeka Division’s WalkAmerica one of the best ever.”
