THORNBURGH NAMED AMERICAN SWISS FOUNDATION YOUNG LEADER
Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh will represent Kansas at the American Swiss Foundation’s
2001 Young Leaders Conference in Switzerland. The exchange will be held in Bad Ragaz, which is one-hour
southeast of Zurich. The conference will begin on June 15th and end on June 24th.
During the conference, Secretary Thornburgh and other participants will discuss vital issues of the day
with high-level Swiss government officials; also attending will be business, media, and cultural leaders. The
goal is for American participants to be able to see Switzerland from the inside, to catch a glimpse of the
characteristics the Swiss society and political institutions offer. The annual exchange is the American Swiss
Foundation’s 2001 Young Leaders Conference, now in its twelfth year, and is a major undertaking of the
institution.
“My Visit to Switzerland will build on our already sound relations with the Swiss government
and people. When two great countries come together with such a shared history, the knowledge and
ideas exchanged enhance this great partnership,” stated Thornburgh.
