Verisign Certificate Instructions

 

These are the instructions to enroll and install a PKI cert using Microsoft Internet Explorer

 

Open a web browsers to:

Challenge Phrase
The Challenge Phrase is a password you use when you want to manage your Digital ID throughout the Digital ID Center. It is not stored with the Digital ID. Before you can manage your Digital ID, you need to enter the Challenge Phrase. The Challenge Phrase protects you from unauthorized management of your Digital ID. The Challenge Phrase can be one or more words, but it cannot include any punctuation. Do not forget this phrase. If you need to write it down, make sure you store it in a safe place.

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 


5. After completing the enrollment form scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.

Confirm your email address

 

Click OK

 

Select Yes

Now you will have to wait until you receive an email from AccessKansas to proceed with the rest. This may take a few days.

 

 


 

 

 

 

If your request is approved you will receive an email from helpcenter@ink.org

 

You will receive an additional email message from helpcenter with your PIN number on it.

 

 

 

After you receive the email with you pin number, you can then retrieve your Digital ID by following these steps:

 

Step 1: Visit the Digital ID retrieval web page. If your Administrator has set up a customized location for retrieving your Digital ID, you should visit the URL specified by your Administrator. Otherwise, you can retrieve your ID at

Step 2: In the form, enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN):

 

Your PIN is: You can copy and paste this number into the next step.

 

 

Step 3: Follow the instructions on the page to complete the installation of your Digital ID.

 

If you have any questions or problems, please contact your Administrator by replying to this e-mail message.



Next you will need to Pick up your ID

 

You will need to type or paste your identification number from a previous email. Then hit submit.

 

 

 

Click yes

 

 

 


 

Next import the CA certificate into your browser. Open a web browsers to:
https://onsite.verisign.com/services/InformationNetworkofKansas/

 

Click Install CA

 

Then click SAVE

 

 

 

 

 

Save the file in a local folder on your computer.

Go to the location where you saved the cert and double click getcacert.cer file.

 

Click Install Certificate

 

Click Next

 

Click Finish.

 

 

 

 

Click Yes

 

 

Click OK

 

 

 

 

Your certificate should now be installed. To make sure you certificate is installed in Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options/Content/Certificates and click on personal.

 

 

Your id should show up.

 

 

Next save your cert on you computer so we can import into you mail application. Proceed to the next step if you still have the Certificate Manager open.

If not open your web browser, select Tools/Internet Options/Content then click on Certificates.

Highlight your name then click Export

 

 

 

 


 

Select next

 
 




 

Make sure the Personal Information Exchange PKCS #12 (.PFX) radio button is selected and the two chooses below are checked.

 

Then click next

 


Enter a password

 

Then click next

 
 


 

 


Click Browse.

 

After you choose a destination on you computer click next

 




Click Finish

 

Save your certificate in a local folder on your computer.

Use your name for the file name. Then click save.

 




 

 


 

 

 


You may now close any unneeded windows. Please refer to other directions to install your certificate into you mail application.
